Our 5th and 6th graders went to Van Raalte park in Holland to take data on the North Branch Macatawa stream. Finding some crayfish friends was the cherry on top!

WONDERING IF YOUR CHILD(REN) SHOULD ATTEND SCHOOL?

Is your child sick, experiencing strange, abnormal symptoms or he/she/you have been exposed to someone with a known case of Covid – 19? Please take a moment to click on this (we hope!) helpful INTERACTIVE FLOW CHART that will help you determine appropriate next steps.

MASK REMINDERS

For the most part, kids have been doing a great job of wearing their masks appropriately throughout the day! Thank you!

If you wouldn’t mind taking a moment to check with your kiddo on the fit of his/her mask, that would be great! Have them place it on their face as they would do in class. This way you can help with any adjustments so that it fits snugly over their mouth and nose. If you have an extra to throw in their backpack, that would be great – just in case they forget one in the morning or maybe have an incredibly wicked sneeze at some point during the day – or maybe would just enjoy a fresh one to change into later in the day.

STUDENT ILLNESS

Unfortunately, we are entering the season of horrible allergies, colds and flu. If your child is suffering from any of the symptoms, below, that are NOT related to seasonal allergies, they should be kept home until symptoms are no longer present without the use of medication.

  • Cough
  • Runny nose and/or congestion
  • Tired and/or achy
  • Short of breath
  • Vomiting
  • Diarrhea
  • New loss of taste and or smell

ABSENCES AND TARDINESS

Accurately tracking student attendance is extremely important. In an effort to simplify the process for notifying us of absences and/or tardiness, please use the following email address to let us know.

iac-attendance@innocademy.com

In addition, we are required to record the specific health reason of the absences. For example, please let us know the symptoms that your child is experiencing instead of just saying he/she is sick.

FAMILY and STUDENT MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES

As you might recall, we have collaborated with Fennville and Glen Public Schools to offer family and student mental health support in western Allegan County. Through this collaboration, we’ve partnered with Pine Rest Mental Health Services. Raeylynn Jimenez will be in our area each Monday and Friday to provide support for our community. If you are interested in speaking with her, please call or email Marty [marty.lappe@innocademy.com] to get more information. This service is a great example of what a community can provide when we pool our resources together; please consider using it.

T-SHIRT AND MASKS SALES

Unfortunately, we did not meet the print minimum requirements for our T-Shirt/Mask Fundraiser Sale. Those who ordered a shirt/mask through the Custom Ink website should be receiving a refund. However, we have GREAT NEWS! We are working with another company that has a lower print minimum requirement and you will be able to order a similar item soon! For those of you who sent money in, we still have your order forms and will submit those orders to the company as soon as we have a link. If you missed the deadline and wanted to order a shirt or mask, you will have another chance to order! Please be on the lookout for a new link and order form coming your way soon! If you have any questions, please contact Ms. Jessica @ jessica.kempema@innocademy.com.  Thank you for your patience and understanding!

SCHOOL CLOSINGS AND DELAYS

Please be aware that if school is delayed/cancelled due to weather conditions, Innocademy will place  notifications on Channel 8, Channel 13, Facebook as well as send out an email to your family. You can sign up for  automatic weather cancellation emails at woodtv.com. We generally follow Fennville Public School closings. If  we post that there is a “Two Hour Delay”, it means that Innocademy will begin school at 10:45 am instead of 8:45  am. In this case, school will operate like normal including regular lunch and dismissal times.

VISITORS TO THE BUILDING

Thank you for adhering to the Michigan Return to School Roadmap Guidelines and not entering the building with your students each day. If/when there is a time your child will be late or needs to leave early, please…

  1. Communicate as normal with your child’s classroom teacher and/or Ms. Reita at 269-561-4050.
  2. When you arrive, ring the doorbell outside of the building.
  3. Wait for your child outside .
