Nature-Enriched Learning

Get Outside the Classroom

We know that a great education doesn’t have to take place in a classroom. In fact, many times it takes place outdoors!

We foster personalized attention between teachers and students, parents and teachers, and students and their peers. Students, families and staff working together as a community offers every student the tools they need to reach their goals.

Why Outdoor Education

We believe that if we can get the students to reconnect and re-engage with the world around them—in a manner that isn’t segmented by learning silos and focused more on project-based learning—student growth, grit, and engagement will increase while decreasing apathy.

We have a natural outdoor resource located at our school, as well as an opportunity to use the natural resources of our community. Our goal is to get students outside at least one per week with our Nature Study Special and off campus once per month with our ODC partnership to help them gain the greatest benefit.

Outdoor Discovery Center Education Network

We’ve formed a relational partnership with the Outdoor Discovery Center Education Network (ODC) to help us support student achievement and whole-child growth that encompasses emotional, social, spiritual and physical well-being.

The ODC staff works with our Nature Studies Special teacher to provide nature-based experiences for students. ODC’s mission is to provide access to high quality experiences that connect communities, children and educators with the natural world.

“Spending time in nature enhances educational outcomes by improving children’s academic performance, focus, behavior and love of learning.”
